OUR FOUNDER

Swami Nithyananda English Medium School had a humble beginning in 1993 starting as a "shishu vihar", an activity which is near and dear to the heart of Bhagavan Nithyananda. It all started with a proposal to extend Balabhojan to the places, Guruvan and Kushal Nagar which were blessed by Bhagavan's presence. The proposal was later modified and it was decided to start a pre-primary or play school with the arrangements to provide food, books etc to the children. This is the genesis of the present secondary school. To start with the school had merge facilities; it was started in an old building in Kushal Nagar with only 9 children. However subsequent years the strength of the students increased manifold. The school was started as an unaided, unrecognized private school and the KG classes were formally started on 03.07.1993. It was encouraged by the unexpected response by the public. It was then decided to extend the classes up to fourth standard. Later, to cope with the increase in the number of students the school was shifted to the present building. Seeing the success of the project it was then decided to make it a full-fledged secondary school. The whole idea was the brain child of late Sri T.A Vasudevan and late Sri P Srenivas Hedge, the then working chairman and treasurer respectively of the Ashram Trust. They also envisaged the school to develop into a Residential school on the model of public schools.

As classes up to fourth standard did not need recognition, the question of obtaining recognition from the Government was not considered till then. The decision to upgrade the school into secondary met with the necessity of obtaining recognition from the State Government. However education department of the state Government declined to grant recognition since the Government was not favorably inclined towards English medium schools. Finally the trust approached the Central Board of Secondary Education for affiliation, for which also NOC from the state Government was required. After a protracted correspondence and strenuous efforts, the school got affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education in April 2003.

The school is now excelling not only in academic sphere but equally in co-curricular activities. With a view to developing the hidden talents of the children various arts and literary activities are organized in the school. The school has made its presence felt at national level mathematics and science Olympiad by securing second prize. The availability of good play ground has been made use of the fullest extent, and the result was able to secure laurels in district level sports meet. At state level Sahodaya meet the school was able to secure places and points. The school has now classes up to tenth standard. The school is now functioning in a beautiful campus and has well-furnished class rooms and well equipped laboratory, library etc. Our aim is to develop the school as a model institution in the area and the immediate objective is to upgrade it into a senior secondary school. The school has necessary infrastructure and a set of dedicated staff members, led by an ideal principal Sri Roni George and very cooperative and helpful PTA. From the humble beginning, the school has risen to the pinnacle of glory. We are confident that the dream of the founders to make it a residential school will be realized sooner and later.
